Fill the form

To check your bike, we need to know couple of things about it first. 5 minute work and that's it for you.

We check the bike's history

We do the running and check all possible registers - Dutch and international, then consider several factors, and voilá!

Only YOU get the results

Then we share the results with you - and ONLY with you. In case it comes not so good, we also give you advice on what to do next. Then it's up to you...

Q: How much will I have to pay?

A: Nothing. Bike Legality Tester is a free service.

Q: How does this work?

A: We love bikes and hate bike thieves. We want to make it extra easy for everyone to check the legality of their bike, to give criminals harder time and make the (cycling) world a little bit better place.

Q: So what exactly do you do?

A:

  1. We check the bike frame or chip number against the Dutch registry of stolen bikes and a couple other similar official registers.
(If your bike passes this round, it's 95% completely legally clean. It is, however, extremely important you provide us with this number, should there be one on your bike.)
  2. We check the bike against other naitional (e.g. Stop Heling) and international (e.g. Bike Index) registers.
  3. We evaluate some other key suspicion factors based on your answers.
  4. We let you know the results in a comprehensive report.

Can you tell me even more?

A: Sure. Although we're working on automation, every single analysis is checked by someone from BikeFair team in person. We create understandable reports, so you know as much as we can deduct from the information you provide us with. Of course, the more you tell us, the better we'll be able to analyze your bike.

Q: What if my bike has a "dark history" (ehm ehm)?

A: Then we tell you and recommend you the next steps. What you do with them is, in the end, up to you. In other words, we believe in humanity.

Q: Do you also cooperate with police?

A: We have a shared interest - less stolen bikes in the Netherlands. Thus, we try to cooperate, but we always mind your privacy: we never openly share any data with them unless you specifically ask us for this (and neither do they share any private data with us). So it's more of a fight of the same battle on the same side, but that's about it.

Q: Why do you even do this?

A: To eliminate the bike theft in the Netherlands. Less stolen bikes in circulation = less work for thieves. Less thieves = peace of mind for cyclists, more kilometres cycled, better bikes, more fun. And mainly, a huge problem off the community's plate.

Q: Who is behind this all?

A: A bunch of cycling enthusiasts who'd like to have some positive impact and give back to the awesome community. More about us here.

Q: How can I help?

A: There are more ways:
1. Spread the word.
2. Get your next bike via BikeFair (or sell your old one here).
3. Buy us a coffee. You can do that here 🙂
4. Join our team. Love bikes as much as we do and got what it takes?
